Papercutting Notebook
€675.00
An 18th century notebook bound in domino-paper with a paper label on the cover that has two compass-drawings containing three papercuttings.
Of the three one is a larger, and more finely executed, example depicting two figures and a cow crossing a bridge from a rugged landscape with a castle in ruins and a tree with broken limbs to what seems to be a new house or maybe life on the other side.
The bridge crossing and ruinous landscape are both themes typical of 18th century European art.
The two other paper cuttings are smaller and less elaborate.
26 x 20 cm
On the last pages of the notebook someone has written a small piece on 'auras' in Dutch somewhere in the later 20th century.
