A large mexican dance mask likely portraying Saint-James, a character in the 'Conquest of Mexico' dance. 
The mask has beautifully carved black curls, reminiscent of romanesque sculpture, and an imposing beard. 
Above the blue eyes are the actual eye holes for the wearer to see through.
