A patacon is a pipe clay or plaster disc-shaped object that was used to decorate a festive bread named 'vollaard', 'cougnou' or 'cougnolle' in Flemish and Walloon tradition.
Originally a patacon was a Spanish silver coin, a vollaard then was a much appreciated gift.
