Pelican Zeeland Knife 1875

Zeeuws knife with a carved wooden handle shaped as a pelican pecking its own breast. 
The pelican pecking itself to feed the blood to its children is an old religious symbol and symbolizes Juzus Christus sacrificing himself for humanity.
"Anno 1860" can be read under a set of faded initials.
