Silver Ex-Voto Breast

In Christian tradition, ex-voto's were offered to a saint for grace received after a specific disease or troubling situation, or when in need of divine intervention. They would have then been hung on a chapel or church wall. 
In Belgium and other European countries the practise has largely vanished, but lives on in places like Mexico and Brazil. 

V.F.G.A. (Votum Fecit, Gratiam Accepit), a Latin phrase meaning "The vow was made, the grace was received."

This example is silver and was found in Belgium. Circa 1900.
