Trafalgar Glazed Bookcase

A mahogany bookcase with two astragal glazed doors flanked by columns, the inside painted soft blue, over a chest of drawers. 
First quarter of the 19th century. English.

Features brass drawer pulls with the inscription 'Trafalgar, Sacred To Nelson'. 

These words point to Vice-Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson and his role in the Battle of Trafalgar, a decisive 1805 naval victory for Britain during the Napoleonic Wars, which secured British naval supremacy but also resulted in Nelson's death in action.
